The Blue-eyed Bear and a few Arctic Friends enjoy a starry song!

All creatures of Heaven and Earth sing to honor the turning of the year. Honor the old and what has gone before and ring in the promise of the new. Whether the coming year brings a messiah or more of the same it  is for sure it will be full of wonder. So no matter what don’t be blue and don’t be bleak lift your voice to the Stars and sing!

A white bear against the Arctic or Himalayan snows is all eyes, nose, and claws! In Tibetan  the term is metoh-kangmi or man bear -snowman. It  was a “Glacier Being” or god of the hunt.  The Blue-eyed bear continues this tradition of a  Great Being in a mystical land. Now you see her, now you don’t. What is she hunting? Maybe you!

The Blue-eyed Bear encounters a Snow Leopard.

Always on the looking for a new place to call home the Blue-eyed Bear is in an extremely remote corner or the earth, the high Himalaya. This beautiful and extreme country may be remote enough and safe enough from human encroachment. But, can the B.E. Bear make friends with the mysterious “ghost cat”, the Snow Leopard, the top predator in this land.

Still,  the Snow Leopard too faces threats from poaching, loss of habitat, and loss of prey animals. Conditions that affect top predators, except humans, all around the world. The Snow Leopard Trust estimates there are some 3,500 to 7,000 cats left in the wilds. And the B.E. Bear is lucky enough to meet one.

See-through Bear!

In order to consolidate her supernatural power the Blue-eyed Bear must see herself as a skeleton and name all her bones. In this way she can more easily pass between this world and the spirit world. The shaman of the Inuit and Siberian tribes also visualize their skeleton and thus they are made totally familiar to their helping spirits.

At this time of year the fabric between this world and the next is very thin and its easy to slip into and out of the spirit realm. Close your eyes and imagine your body without the flesh. If you do this no telling where you will end up. But take care,  I would hold something powerful like a knife, rattle, or rosary cause you never know what you might meet and you want to get back. The B-e Bear has her claws for protection!

The Blue-eyed Bear (ao I me no kuma) creates her own two-pawed and ten-clawed enso or a circle of bear perfection.

The Blue-eyed Bear observes some strange birds.

The 10th anniversary of the destruction of the Twin Towers in New York City, the attack on the Pentagon, and the plane crash near Shanksville PA. a series of events collectively known as 9-11 provides the B-E Bear a time for sobering reflection. When all these terrible acts occurred the B-E Bear had yet to leave home and seemed secure in her icy estate. But on her Adventures she has since observed the great destruction humans wrought on themselves. For instance, Bears don’t fly (well maybe only in their dreams) yet, Humans have turned flight into a common means of transport,  a joy to many, as well as a means of destruction. Ten years ago on that fateful September day the  common means of transport was without warning morphed into a means of destruction.  Great buildings fell spewing forth debris that, like a volcano, could be seen from space.

After 9-11 if anyone questions whether humans can effect  the environment they need to take the perspective of  the fall of the Twin Towers from space. What happened that day had immediate repercussions  unlike the unseen, but no less devastating slow accumulation of  pollution that is heating this planet. The tragedy of 9-11 is a vivid demonstration  for all living  generations, that  they are a force that can unleash unthinkable destruction in an instant and or over the course of time. Other forces of nature such as  volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunami, or slow grinding of the tectonic plates can’t be stopped.  However,  humans believe they can change course and  choose a less destructive path. But can they? 

Around and Around we go! Where we will land no body knows!

Life is a tail chase. Ever feel like your going full-out but have know idea where you’ll end up? So does the B-E Bear. It’s said  that the journey is what matters not the destination. Or its how you play the game not whether you win or loose. Taking these sayings to heart suggest you would not recognize your life’s destination even if  you arrived. Anyway, the B-E Bear thinks it might  look very much like the place from which you started. But,  just caring to ask the question “where am I going” may be the only way to reach one’s true potential.

The Blue-eyed Bear dreams of finding a unknown colony of Miami Blue butterflies.

The Miami Blue butterflies are almost gone. They have been recently given emergency placement on the endangered species list because they are in such a precarious state that they can’t wait for the bureaucratic wheels to grind. As their name implies these little one inch butterflies can be found only in south Florida. As a butterfly they only live one day and thats not much time to mate and lay eggs. Their caterpillars feed on balloon vine and both caterpillar and butterfly stay within the small area where they were born, thats why habitat loss is so devastating to these little guys.

Take a good look. You may never be able to see this butterfly again!

The Blue-eyed Bear dreams of finding a previously unknown colony of Miami blues and fighting off  all comers to protect  their balloon vines.  Some say, so what if a butterfly dies out! Humans need more condos along the beach and more places to park their autos. But the Blue-eyed Bear’s world would be a little less beautiful without them! Their loss would make for one less ice berg on the ocean of time.
